If you need someone to listen, we've got an open chair.
Hello there!
My name is Kevin O’Brien, and I am a social worker. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2023. I co-founded and am actively working extending the reach of The Sunset Project in Alpena, MI—a program designed to raise awareness, end stigmas, and equip high school students with the tools they need to navigate mental health challenges. I am also working towards my CAADC certification so I can assist those struggling with substance use who want to be free from addiction.
I enjoy working with teens and adults who are experiencing a variety of concerns such as: depression, anxiety, anger, relationship problems, life transitions, and more. My approach to therapy is collaborative and person-centered. Some modalities that inform my practice are: CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Transitions to Independence. I meet you wherever you may be along your mental health journey in the hope that you feel supported and safe to share whatever is on your mind.
I highly value the relationship between each person I meet and work alongside with. It’s my job to provide you the tools to navigate the complexities of life. Being human can be messy! My hope is for you to feel seen, validated, and confident to approach any challenge you may face.
I look forward to getting to know you better!
